It is very important to engage pest control to protect your home against pest after a renovation. This procedure is even more important for those who bought a preowned unit. An estate or unit will generally inhabit some pest like ants or cockroaches after a period of living. We can prevent ourselves from living with these pests by eliminating them.
So when do we send our dream home for pests control? The best time is right after renovation and just before your renovation company do a final cleaning. Prevention is the best cure to any pest problem!
What type of pest control packages to use? I used a time one fumigation to my home and the result is just amazing. Despite living in a 35 year old estate, my house is free from ants and cockroaches (its been 2 years now!). However, because of my neighbor’s plant (which is full of ants), there are some ants which attempt to enter my house recently. See my previous post for my simple solution to my ants problem. If you have a bigger budget to spare, an annual package with a pest control company is a nice service to have.
How much does it cost? The price range for a one time fumigation of a apartment range from S$120 to S$250 depending on company, size of the house and products used. My 4 room HDB flat cost me S$120 in October 2010. Price of services are usually negotiable. Do remember to negotiate! Do some price comparison between companies to get the best deal.
